Pocket eDGe

Pocket eDGe dual screen e-reader has been available for purchase since the start of the month, but the company finally got around to officially introducing the device this week.

The Pocket eDGe is a smaller version of the enTourage eDGe dual-display the company introduced earlier this year. Pocket eDGe has a 7″ tablet on one side, for Android apps like web browsing, audio recording, and games and a 6″ e-reader on the other side, for glare-free reading and stylus handwriting.

The device also includes speakers, a mic and a camera, allowing you to snap photos or record or listen to audio. There’s also a USB video adapter for projecting presentations on an external display.

See full details at Entourage Edge website.

Buy Pocket eDGe for $399 from Amazon.com with FREE Shipping.

A new eReader, the enTourage eDGe, is available for pre-order. This device is the world’s first dualbook, combining the functions of an eReader, netbook, notepad, and an audio/video reader. The device is able to surf the web, read eBooks, watch video and listen to music.

Books can be transferred to the reader via SD cards or flash drives and it has a mini-USB port for direct transfers from PC or Mac computers.

The enTourage eDGe™ e-reader screen is a spacious 1200 x 825 pixels, or 9.7 inches measured diagonally. This big screen makes reading e-books much easier than on smaller screens, reducing the number of page turns. It includes the advantages of other e-readers, with zooming capability, a glare-free screen, and the ability to read in sunlight. The enTourage eDGe™ e-reader uses e-Ink® technology, which lets you take notes right on the book you’re reading. You can open a journal page, enter drawings with the stylus or text — either by hand or using the virtual keyboard. Then it lets you save your notes and journals to the enTourage eDGe™, to a server, or email them to your friends or classmates. The enTourage eDGe™ can read both ePub files and PDFs.

The reader has integrated Wi-Fi and in the future, the device will support EVDO or HSDPA mobile modems. The device can be used in portrait or landscape modes and it weighs under three pounds. Dimensions of the device are 8.25″ x 10.75″ x 1″ and it has 3GB of integrated storage. The internal battery is replaceable and promises 16 hours of runtime per charge.

The reader will come in blue, white, black, and red colors and can be pre-ordered now for $490. Any color other than blue costs an extra $40. The reader is set to ship in March 2010.
