Apple iPad models and price

Apple iPad

The Apple iPad is available in six different models from $499 to $829.

  16GB 32GB 64GB
WiFi $499 $599 $699
WiFi/3G $629 $729 $829

The models vary based on storage capacity — 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB — and on type of Internet connectivity — Wi-Fi only, or Wi-Fi plus 3G cellular data connection from AT&T. The support for 3G mobile broadband carries a $130 premium over Wi-Fi-only devides and the 3G designation comes with another cost: a recurring monthly data plan, sold separately through AT&T.

There are two data plans:

* 250MB for $14.99/month ($180 for one year)
* Unlimited for $30.00/month ($360 for one year)

Data plans are pre-paid so, unlike the iPhone, there is no contract.

The total cost will vary from $499 for the 16GB WiFi only model to $1189 ($829 + $360) for the $64GB WiFi+3G model.

Assuming that you’ll use your iPad for go online whenever you feel like it, then you’ll spend from $809 ($629+$180) for the 16GB WiFi+3G model with limited data plan, to $1189 ($829 + $360) for the $64GB WiFi+3G model with unlimited data plan only the first year.

If you use your iPad for four years, then you will spend from $1349 ($629 + $720) in the 1st case and $2269 ($829 + $1440) in the 2nd case, a considerable sum.
